About warriors
A WARRIOR IS SUPPOSED TO RUN IN AHEAD OF EVERYONE ELSE!
In general PvE you'll want the warriors be their own little squad with the backline rangers, casters and assassins in a bigger squad in the back (backline duh)
The majority of people who posted here so far do not understand the concept of tanking. And that is no problem, since nobody else does either, except me and maybe 2 or 3 other people on this forum.
Because so little people know how it works, real warriors, good ones, they can't do their thing and end up fighting side by side with some monk who screams for a bodyguard.
About monks
If you need to rest for energy and you're an ele then that's ok... but if you're a monk and need to rest for energy then by Aresien TAKE OFF THE DUAL -1/+15energy items.
Or delete your monk since you're an idiot who would rather blame someone else for failing (like blame the warrior). This is a teamgame, if you fail, blame the team, not the warrior.
Monks do not need to regen in-between battles because the mobs are spaced so far apart, I can regen FROM ZERO TO MAX by simply walking from one mob to the next. And this is on every single freaking map in factions and especially prophecies. In prophecies, mobs are so far apart from eachother you're basically running a marathon.
If you're a monk and you need to regen, tell you warrior to join my team instead because I do NOT need to regen. IGN: Don Zardeone (btw, ever heard of energy management?)
The amount of stupidity in this thread is mind-exploding, really.
About Knights/ascalon armour.
Before this update, the knights and ascalon sets were useless. I didn't check the numbers yet but they may still be useless now since 10 or 20 more al from dreads or sentinel armour should reduce the same amount of damage, if not more (+it is vs everything).
So knights/ascalon full set = still nubskinarmour
I always expected a change or fix like this. I'm therefore happy I never bought the 1.5mil version of my ascalon boots.. I only got the 15k version. Those who got 1.5mil will probably be pissed... not because they wasted money but because they have to go down to the forgemaster AGAIN >.<
Again, the knights/ascalon thing doesn't really matter.
About the vs everything reduction that has become vs physical only
I have to agree with ANet on the fact that warriors had it extremely easy in factions. A lot of monsters use extremely crappy attacks. With my dreadknights armourset with shield and everything.. I took basically no damage.
If anyone ever played Dynasty Warriors then that is kind of like it was. Mow through everything while taking little damage.
This is exactly how I mowed through the campaign with henchies.
However. There's always a however...
Traditional, highly efficient tanking, might be gone now.
A tank is supposed to gather the aggro and hold it.
Once he has it then the other people in the team heal the tank, kill the monsters and have a chat.
Now, the initial gathering of the monsters may be a problem already. I say -may- because I haven't tested it yet. The warrior will be taking craploads more elemental damage.
7 more damage from one source is laughabale. 7 more damage from multiple sources is a major problem. A tank will face that problem 100% of the time.
However (yes another however), this is a teamgame and someone in the team should be bringing some defenses against elemental damage.
The tank himself can, as W/Me, bring elemental defense. He could just raise his al to huge levels.
It is possible to adapt, yes, but it will probably require more teamwork than before.
PuGs however, will suck harder than ever before.
The previously good warriors will probably figure something out. The previously bad warriors will probably become worse.. or not, I mean, they had 5 super vigors or 5 super absorbs on their armour to begin with.
I am going to strike anyway... why? Because this nerf doesn't make any sense.
Since when is a meteor pure elemental? There's a physical rock in there (not all meteors are huge btw). I can use a shield and bounce the rock off of me.
And elemental damage itself... It isn't magical. It is elemental.
If I were to wear armour, wouldn't it keep me dry? Protect me from burns? Protect me from flying bricks? Protect me from ... AIR?
The magicians in GW are the ritualists, mesmers and necros. Elemental hits should be reduced by armour just like the slashing and blunt hits are.
This brings le to the point where I believe that these reductions were a balancing tool all along. But if I were to explain all that then I'd be writing essays...
No problem, at least i dont have to blame myself - Just the team Not that it's any better to blame more...
Sure alot have heard of Energy Management, but it's not like there is alot of that to choose before you get to cap Elite skills.
LMAO!!!!! You TRY to bounce that huge rock smashing trough your face with a little shield....
Yeah its balance. Why did you write all this when you realized it was balance?
All I can say is, "About time, way to go Anet!" Warriors have always been the non-thinking noob class simply because their armor was way overbuffed. Warriors have plenty of defensive skills, but could load up their skill bar with damage only and let their armor be their only defense. Well, the time of having your cake and eating it too appears to be over.
As for PvE, I'd love to see the warriors disappear altogether, so I'm all for the strike LOL. On the other hand, since there are so many of them, any call for a strike seems pretty pointless. Hopefully a lot of the noob warriors will discover that dragging a team into a mob has as much affect on them as everyone else, i.e. death.
BTW, whoever said a Tank was essential to team game play anyways?

Wow, petty insults and stereo-typing, way to make a point
I've played my W/Mo for over a year now, and yes, this update pissed me off... when I read about it. But the ONLY thing that really seems to have taken a hit here is solo farming. Namely, the IDS run (my prime example), post-update, impossible. However, having done a few missions and even a Drok's run last night, I don't see enough of a change to warrant all of this opposition to ANet.
Truthfully, I don't believe at all that ANet would make such a change without careful consideration to game balance, just be patient, quit trying to start a revolution, and go back to enjoying the game

Look at the bright side here. Prot Spirit might actually be quite effective since warriors will be running around with 60dp now. (Provided Prot Spirit doesn't get shattered)
I don't PvP so I can't comment on that side of things
In PvE a warrior is gonna get hit a lot. It's his role in the group. When he gets hit he takes dammage. A warrior can't change this situation, he can mearly reduce the amount of dammage he takes.
All this means is a Monks job just got that much harder, not really the warrior, he runs in gets everything battering the crud out of him, it's what he does.
See, there's this funny myth that no one can play the game without warriors.
A myth, I said.
Your strike will do the Guild Wars community a favor by showing everyone that Warriors are *not* essential. I think we'll all become better players. Good stuff.
So please, go on strike. I support any player actions that improve the game.
Oh noes, warriors lost their -7 vs all to become -5 vs physical. They can no longer tank because that +2 vs physical, combined with their might frenzy and healing signet, deals 8! TRULY THE END OF DAYS HAS COME!! REPENT!! REPENT!!
I can't change the direction a rock the size of the moon is going, but I CAN stop small rocks, rocks the size of a fist, rocks the size of football and if you give me a heavy enough shield then yes, I can hit a car hard enough to make it go into another direction.
Anyways, last reply from me, this thread is filled with kids.

Im kinda dissapointed over it but I'm not bothered by it too much. Warriors already have high DPS and the ability to tank, which no other class really has. I just got to Droks today, and despite Knight's amour only absorbing physical damage I still decided to go for it over Platemail, because I find in PvE I can easilly spike off the spell casters and usually don't end up taking much damage from them. It's the meleers and rangers who are constantly barraging me as I pick off the casters that generally deal the most damage.

Rangers are also pretty good at tanking. 100 Elemental armor(+more) and they can keep up stances all the time, so protection against Physical aswell.

Just a few points if you are wereing a huge sheet of metal armour
you think it will prtect you from heat and cold and air?? rocks maybe. but fire will mean the metal heats up and you end up cooking in your own armour, ice means you freeze in you armour. air element is lightning which means guess what you conduct and fry in your armour, and rocks well i suppose.

well im getting to realisic lol
Dark
Actually to be realistic, you'd be much better off with some metal to absorb that heat then taking a blast of fire to your bare skin...
There is no point in trying to be realistic about it though, since it's all nonsense anyways.
